This is not something to watch in the evening lest you lose a night’s sleep. It is YouTube video of a presentation made by Connecticut senator Chris Murphy in the US Senate Chamber, documenting what Donald Trump did in his first six weeks in office in terms of removing most of the safeguards against monied corruption. That includes the formerly criminal act of wealthy individuals directly paying their President for access to him, presumably to seek favours.
Sen Murphy makes apt comparisons to Russia, where government corruption has become so normalized that it is accepted that their President and his wealthy cronies get to use their country and government as their personal piggy banks. The fact that there hasn’t been a media firestorm on Mr. Trump’s unprecedented self-serving actions is evidence for such a normalization in the USA. While, unlike his billionaire backers, Mr. Trump is a mere millionaire, there is little doubt that he is on track for billionaire status while in office.
All the more reason for we Canadians to stand unified in refusing to ever bow to US annexation. Remove the protections afforded by made-in-Canada legislation and our natural resources would be quickly scooped up to benefit billionaire Trump backers with the ambition to become the first-ever trillionaire.
To view the video, just Google “Sen Chris Murphy – six weeks”. I’m deliberately not including the actual URL in this post lest it trigger some form of enemies list (which you probably won’t consider paranoic after viewing the presentation and realizing just what’s at stake for everyone’s lives). After watching it through the first time, I researched Sen Murphy and confirmed to my satisfaction that he’s the real deal. If you’re not into baseball metaphors, you can skip the first 70 seconds.
